When moving house you need to be confident your new location meets your requirements and is a good investment. Take time to check the area has good growth potential and will provide an increasing standard of living and employment.

• LOCAL FACILITIES - Schools, Shops, Doctor/Dentist/Chemist, Post Office and Police.
• TRANSPORT - Buses, Trains, Motorways, Airports and Taxis.
• RECREATIONAL FACILITIES - Sports Clubs, Parks, Cycleways and Footpaths.
• LEISURE FACILITIES - Pubs, Restaurants, Libraries and Churches.
• STATISTICS - Population, Crime, Health, House Prices.
• AND - don't forget those things that are important to you.

Useful Tips.

Buy a local paper and visit the local pub to get a feel for the area. Make a list of the points that are important to you ie schools, parking etc. Visit the area at different times of the day and different days of the week.

Indicators of good growth potential.

The top indicators for growth potential are improving schools, roads with skips and plenty of planning applications. Also considered as important indicators are public transport getting more crowded, an increase in the number of traffic wardens and burglar alarms on more houses. Positive signs of a flourishing area are obvious signs of neighbourhood watch schemes, the availability of ethnic foods and thicker telephone directories.

Your check list for indicators that a location is set for better things which will result in improved standards of living and employment prospects for residents:

• Skips and scaffolding for building work.
• Plenty of planning applications.
• Busy and crowded public transport.
